SLED: 7 Lowcountry men arrested for fraud

HAMPTON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) -

South Carolina Law Enforcement agents arrested seven lowcountry residents Tuesday in connection with the fraudulent sale of metal containers to a Hampton County recycling center, according to a release.

Abraham Young, 47, of Green Pond; Richard Young, 36, of Walterboro; Marc Dupont, 38, or Ridgeland; and Rodolfo Taylor, 65, of Walterboro were each charged with one count of breach of trust with fraudulent intent over $2,000 but less than $10,000. 

Eric Ferguson, 39, of Ruffin; Antonio Ferguson, 31, of Walterboro; and John Lee Drayton, 61, of Hilton Head Island were each charged with one count of breach of trust with fraudulent intent, value $2,000 or less.

Officials say between the October 13, 2012 and January 26, 2013 the seven suspects fraudulently sold more than $20,000 worth of metal containers to Simco Recycling Center for their own personal gain.

The metal containers belonged to either Republic Services or Waste Management, employers of the suspects involved in the incident, the release states.

The seven suspects were booked at Hampton County Detention Center.
