Report: Walterboro teen injured after shots fired from red Cadillac

COLLETON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Authorities say a teen is in stable condition after she was shot in the leg during a drive-by in Walterboro Tuesday night.

Colleton County Fire & Rescue Chief Barry McRoy said the drive-by shooting happened around 8:15 p.m. at a home in the 400 block of Savage Street.

The 18-year-old victim said she was inside her home when she heard her mother, who was on the front porch, start to scream.  The teen ran through the house towards her mother, and as she started to step onto the porch she was struck in the right leg by one of the bullets which passed through an exterior wall and screen door, according to a Walterboro Public Safety incident report.

She was taken to Colleton Medical Center for treatment.  McRoy said she was in stable condition at the time of transport.

Witnesses told officers the shots were fired from a red Cadillac.  Several spent casings were recovered from the scene.

No suspects have been identified and the investigation is ongoing.
