SUMMMERVILLE, SC (WCSC) - Police officers in Summerville can look forward to using new cruisers on their patrol over the next few years.
Summerville Town Council voted Wednesday night to approve a new fleet of cruisers for the police department.
Councilwoman Kima Garten-Schmidt said the cars are several years old. She says it's optimal to trade them in every six of seven years because of wear and tear.
The new cruisers will be rotated into the fleet in 20-percent increments over the next few years.
Summerville police are made up of 86 sworn officers.
