LADSON, SC (WCSC) - Charleston County sheriff's deputies are investigating after a cook at a Ladson restaurant was rammed and pinned against another vehicle outside the establishment earlier this week.
An incident report states deputies responded to the parking lot outside Mr. Hibachi, located at 9585 Highway 78, near the corner of Ladson Road, after receiving reports of a collision involving an automobile and a pedestrian on Tuesday around noon.
When deputies arrived, witnesses told them the 50-year-old victim, who works at the restaurant, appeared to be involved in a disturbance with the suspect on the sidewalk outside the business. Witnesses said the victim apparently stepped off the sidewalk in an attempt to "try to calm the situation."
However, witnesses said the suspect climbed into his SUV parked nearby, backed up, and sped at the victim, ramming him into the side of another parked vehicle. The suspect then backed up and fled the scene, according to witnesses.
The victim was taken to Trident Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigators say they have identified the suspect, but no arrest has been made.
