Walmart to go green, cuts chemicals from products

(CNN) – Walmart says its cutting down on certain chemicals found in household products.

The move is one of the mega-retailer's green initiatives, highlighted during a meeting on Thursday about the company's sustainability efforts.

Walmart has not said which chemicals are on the chopping block, but that the change will impact household cleaning, beauty and cosmetic products.

The company says it will be asking manufacturers to transition to greener ingredients.

Starting in 2015, all Walmart suppliers will be required to post lists of ingredients found in their products online.

According to the L.A. Times, Procter and Gamble and Johnson & Johnson announced similar moves in the past year.
