Stratford's Rivers Commits To Mercer

Stratford's Demetre Rivers made his verbal commitment to Mercer on Monday the senior confirmed to Live 5. 

The 6'7 Forward averaged over 18 points and 7 rebounds a game for the Knights his junior season as the team went 10-14. 

Rivers told Live 5 there were lots of things that drew him to Mercer, from the academics to how close the players on the team are. 

"They have are a great school academically. They have a great engineering program which is what I want to major in." Rivers said. "Their coaching staff is great. Their team is good; they've won 51 games the last 2 yrs. I went on an official visit & everything felt right."

"I feel like I can fit in we'll with their program." I hung out with the team & they don't just act like a team, they act like family. The campus is very nice. I didn't find anything i didn't like about Mercer."

Rivers also reportedly had interest from Campbell, Presbyterian and The Citadel.
