WALTERBORO, SC (WCSC) - Walterboro Public Safety have arrested a 21-year-old man they say shot another man in the back of the head on Tuesday.
Police said they arrested 21-year-old Jamall Quadry Ferguson, of Yemassee, and charged him with attempted murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime, and discharging a firearm within city limits.
Authorities say the shooting happened at the Lincoln Apartments on Witsell Street Tuesday night around 7 p.m. The 20-year-old victim told police he was talking to a woman outside the 300 building when a man who goes by "Supa," identified by police as Ferguson, walked up and began arguing with him.
The victim told authorities Supa pulled out a gun, so he tried to walk away. As he was leaving, the victim said he heard a gunshot and realized he'd been hit.
Colleton County Fire and Rescue Chief Barry McRoy said the victim was conscious and talking to emergency crews.
Ferguson is being held in the Colleton County Detention Center.
It was the third shooting in about a week in Walterboro.
