Deputies: Suspect in custody after armed robbery, kidnapping in Union

UNION, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Deputies in Union County said a man is in custody after an armed robbery turned into a kidnapping on Sept. 18.

Deputies said they responded to an armed robbery call at the Lil Cricket on South Pinckney Street in Union County.

According to the report the suspect, Robert Lewis Briggs, 29, made the victim drive him away from a store after the robbery. Briggs then fled on foot after taking the victim's cell phone, lighter and $40 with him, according to the deputy's report.

Deputies said Briggs was located a short time later and taken into custody.
