CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Police say a West Ashley man was arrested over the weekend after the iPhones he stole from a downtown Radcliffe Street apartment led investigators right to him.
Charleston Police Department Public Information Officer Charles Francis said 23-year-old Timothy Andrew Patrick, of Arcadian Park, was arrested around 11:30 a.m. Saturday and charged with first-degree burglary, simple possession of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance.
Francis said the victims woke up about 7 a.m. Saturday and noticed that someone had stolen several items, including two iPhones. They were able to track the phones to the area of King Street and Market Street, where they saw the suspect carrying one of their book bags that was stolen during the burglary.
They immediately notified the police and Patrick was taken into custody near King and Market streets. He was carrying stolen items from the Radcliffe Street apartment, along with three grams of marijuana and two grams of a "prescription-only narcotic," Francis said.
Police say Patrick was already on probation for another burglary. He is being held in the Charleston County Detention Center under a $110,000 bond.
The investigation is ongoing.
