CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Cosgrove Avenue at Interstate 26 has been partially reopened following a fuel spill on Tuesday morning.
North Charleston police spokesman Spencer Pryor said a fuel tanker spilled about 100 gallons of fuel in the northbound lanes of Cosgrove Avenue near the on-ramp to I-26. Dispatchers said the incident happened around 5:15 am.
Pryor said the driver of the tanker did not stop. At this time, it's unknown what company or individual is responsible for the spill.
The on-ramp to I-26 eastbound from Cosgrove Avenue remains shut down, as does one lane of the road, according to Pryor.
The Department of Health and Environmental Control is working the scene. They are expected to continue working on clean-up for the next two to three hours, Pryor said.
