Police: N. Charleston man robbed victim at knifepoint over $9

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A 48-year-old man is behind bars after police say he robbed a man at knifepoint early Sunday morning.

Robert Lee Griffin of N. Charleston has been charged with armed robbery. His bond was set at $100,000.

According to an incident report, the victim was at Griffin's apartment at 3360 Apache Street when the suspect asked him for beer money.

When the victim said he only had $9 and could not afford it, police say Griffin went to the kitchen and grabbed two knives.

The victim told police Griffin said he could not leave until he handed over the money.

Police say the victim was allowed to leave Griffin's apartment after giving the suspect $9.

According to a witness, the victim owed Griffin money. The witness also told police Griffin did not point a knife at the victim, but was just talking with his hands.

Griffin is being held at the Charleston County Detention Center.
