Phone service has been restored for residents in parts of Orangeburg County after a fiber line was cut disrupting land and cell service Wednesday night.

Officials said service was restored Thursday at 1:15 a.m.

People in Elloree, Providence, Santee and Vance were unable to receive or make any calls, state emergency management officials said Wednesday night.

Officials said a Frontier Communications fiber line was cut near Highway 301 near Bowman around 5 p.m.

Anyone with an emergency was asked to go to the nearest fire station for assistance, officials said.

Frontier Communications officials had hoped to restore service by midnight.
