CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - An expense report released by the Charleston County Sheriff's Office shows it cost over $4,600 to send two deputies and a State Law Enforcement Division agent to Oklahoma to assist in the Baby Veronica adoption handling.
According to an expense report from the sheriff's office, it cost taxpayers $4,639.28 to send Inspector Rita Zellinsky, Sgt. John Nice and SLED agent Marion Baker to Oklahoma for three days.
The trio left Charleston on Sept. 23 and returned Sept. 25, the report states.
The breakdown of expenses are as follows:
Airline - $2,098.80
Baggage check - $150
Lodging - $868.38
Meals - $99.70
Rental car and gas - $859.14
Weapons Check Fee - $144
Toll - $1.50
Overtime - $296.28
Fringe Benefits - $121.48
The same group of officers previously traveled to Oklahoma on August 29 to assist with court hearings. That nine day trip cost more than $9,000.
