The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a missing man from Lady’s Island, last seen over the weekend.

Richard Warren Blankenship, 56, was reported missing Monday morning. Family members say they last had contact with him Sunday afternoon but said he was displaying unusual behavior, possibly as a result of medication he was taking.

While Blankenship’s family did not believe that he was in any danger, they did become concerned after going to his home and finding the power shut off and his vehicle gone. Blankenship reportedly does not often leave his home, and is usually in contact by phone with friends and family.

Attempts to reach him by phone have been unsuccessful since Sunday.

Blankenship is not considered to be a threat to himself or others, however, he is considered being endangered due to recent uncharacteristic behavior and possible need for medical attention.

Blankenship may be traveling in a maroon 2003 Chevrolet S10 pickup truck with SC license plate CPG 532. He is a white male, approximately 5’10”, 225 lbs with grey shoulder-length hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Richard Blankenship is asked to contact either Investigator Cpl. J. Malphrus at 843-255-3426 or Crimestoppers.
