NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The man police say was struck by an SUV while crossing a North Charleston road on Thursday night has been identified.
The Charleston County Coroner's Office says 52-year-old Lewis Brewington died following the incident on Dorchester Road.
North Charleston police spokesman Spencer Pryor said the Brewington was apparently crossing Dorchester Road from the Evanston Plaza Shopping Center, near Olivia Drive, when he walked into the path of an oncoming SUV just before 9 p.m.
Pryor said Brewington was in critical condition when he was taken to the Medical University of South Carolina. He later died from his injuries.
Pryor said it does not appear the SUV driver will face charges at this time.
