NORTH CHARLESTON (WCSC) - An accident on I-26 westbound that caused traffic troubles Thursday morning was the result of the motorist driving too fast for conditions, according to SC Highway Patrol.

Deputies with the Charleston County Sheriff's Office as well as troopers with highway patrol were on the scene after a car crashed into the wall right under the Ashley Phosphate overpass near mile marker 209 westbound around 6:30 a.m.

The right lane of the interstate was blocked due to the accident.

Bridget Wyant with highway patrol said the driver was driving too fast for conditions, lost control, and hit a concrete wall on the right before crashing into the median.
No one was injuries in the accident, and the drive was cited for not having an SC driver's license and driving too fast for conditions, Wyant said.
