COLLETON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) -

Walterboro Public Safety is investigating reports of two shootings Thursday, including one that sent a man to the hospital.

According to an incident report, a 21-year-old male was shot in the leg after hearing multiple gunshots while walking down the road in the area of 1537 Bells Highway around 4:20 p.m.

The victim told officials he left a friend's house on Dorsey Street and was walking towards another friend's house when he heard 4-5 gunshots, with at least one of them hitting him in the left leg.

Public Safety officers say neighbors in the area said they did not hear any gunshots. There are no suspects at this time.

Another shooting was reported in the 300 block of Green Pond Highway around 10 p.m. Officials say multiple people reported hearing 5-10 gunshots in the area.

An incident report states several bullet holes were found in the back wall of a home, and slugs and shell casings were found in the backyard.

Officials say neighbors reported hearing a number of people running through their yards at the time of the shooting.

There are no known suspects at this time.
