JOINT BASE CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

The 315th Airlift Wing has canceled the unity's monthly training drill due to the ongoing federal government shutdown.

Colonel James Fontella announced the decision Wednesday. It will affect more than 1,400 Air Force reservists this weekend.

Nearly 450 hotel room reservations had to be canceled due to the cancellation. Local hotels will lose about $66,000 in hotel revenue, according to a statement released by the airlift wing.

The drill was originally scheduled for the first weekend of October,  but was rescheduled for this weekend in hopes of an appropriations bill passing through Congress.
