Aiken County, SC (WFXG) -

Another barricade at the Savannah River Site is closing due to the government shutdown.

Barricade 6 at Road 6 and Highway 125 will be closed until further notice starting at midnight Thursday, SRS officials said.

Officials announced last week the closing of barricades 8 and 10 after the SRS security contractor was forced to furlough some employees. Those barricades will remain closed until further notice.

Two other barricades will have reduced staffing and fewer lanes open starting at midnight Thursday, officials announced. The Augusta Barricade (Barricade 1) will be reduced from three lanes to two, and the Aiken Barricade (Barricade 2) will be reduced from four to three.

SRS employees should use caution when approaching the barricades and expect delays during shift change hours, officials said.
