CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

At least eleven apartments were damaged in a southeast Charlotte fire Wednesday night, according to the Charlotte Fire Department.

The fire began around 8:30 at the Matthews Crossing Apartments. More than 60 firefighters responded to the blaze, and were able to contain it shortly before 9:45 p.m.

Firefighters say that the building the fire started in housed 22 apartments. Of those, 21 were occupied.

No serious injuries were reported.

There is no word on what may have started the fire.

The American Red Cross said Thursday morning it had responded to the fire and assisted emergency crews in helping those families displaced by the fire.
