CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A Goose Creek man was arrested Wednesday night after a traffic stop for a cracked windshield led to the discovery of $550 worth of cocaine, according to an incident report.
Ricky Manigo Dawson, 32, has been charged with manufacture, distribution of ice, crack or crank, driving under suspended license, and unsafe motor vehicle.
According to the report, Dawson was spotted driving on Saint Andrews Blvd. around 5:20 p.m. in an Infinity G20 with a cracked windshield.
When police attempted to stop the vehicle, authorities say the suspect was seen through the rear window pushing something down between the seat and center console area.
Police say Dawson admitted he did not own the car. Additionally, a check of his license determined his license was currently suspended for the second time.
The report states a search of the vehicle uncovered a Newport cigarette box stuffed between the center console and the seat. The box contained 5.5 grams of a white rock-like substance that tested positive for cocaine. The street value is reported to be worth $550.
Police say they also found $522 in cash in Dawson's pocket.
Dawson was arrested and booked at the Charleston County Detention Center. Bond has been set at $51,398.
