'Barktoberfest' aims to help find homes for pets

NORTH CHARLESTON (WCSC) -

The Charleston Animal Society will be holding one of its largest adoption drives of the year this weekend.

The "Barktoberfest" adoption drive kicks off Friday at noon. The Charleston Animal Society will waive adoption fees on all available animals.

The event is part of the ASPA's Mega-Match-a-thon campaign, which helped more than 6,000 pets find homes last year.

The Charleston Animal Society has more than 700 animals in its system. Officials hope to find homes for about 300 of those pets this weekend.

When:

  • Friday, October 18 from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Saturday, October 19 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. 
  • Sunday, October 20 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
