Suspect sought for attacking, robbing movie theater owner

BEAUFORT COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Beaufort County investigators are searching for a man who attacked a movie theater owner and stole a bank deposit bag.

Around 11 p.m. on Sunday, the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office responded to the Northridge Plaza on 435 William Hilton Pkwy in reference to a strong armed robbery.

The 56-year-old victim, who is the owner of Northridge Cinema 10, said it all started when the suspect approached him as he was walking to his car. When the victim looked down at his watch, the suspect attempted to punch the victim.

Authorities say the suspect swung again, this time hitting the victim in the face. The suspect then grabbed a bank deposit bag and took off in a small, blue 2-door vehicle drive by a female subject.

The victim described the suspect as a black male, between 20 and 30 years old, 6'2", 200 pounds and wearing dark clothing.

The sheriff's office says the victim was transported to Hilton Head Medical Center. Investigators are asking anyone with information to call Investigator Cpl. D. Seifert at (843) 255-3414.
