LADSON, SC (WCSC) - The South Carolina Highway Patrol says three people were transported to the hospital following an accident on I-26 in Ladson Tuesday afternoon.
Authorities say the accident happened in the area of mile marker 200 around 4:45 p.m. when a van made an improper lane change and struck an SUV.
According to highway patrol, both vehicles ran off the roadway, hit a ditch and struck several trees. The driver of the van had to be extricated from her vehicle.
The driver and passenger of the SUV were both taken to MUSC, while the driver of the van was airlifted to the hospital.
Law enforcement had shut down eastbound lanes as crews cleared the scene. The driver of the van was cited for improper lane change.
Highway patrol is investigating the incident.
