Police looking for information in W. Ashley teen's shooting death

WEST ASHLEY, SC (WCSC) - Investigators are asking anyone with information on the homicide of an 18-year-old to call police.

The Charleston Police Department is investigating the shooting death of Malcolm Jefferson, a former West Ashley High School student, who was killed on Oct. 8 on Forbes Avenue.

Authorities say Jefferson, from Charleston, died on his 18th birthday from a gunshot wound in West Ashley.

According to a police report, the shooting happened after just after midnight at 1139 Forbes Avenue, off Magnolia Road in the Maryville neighborhood.  Officers arrived on scene to find the Jefferson suffering from several gunshot wounds to his torso.

Jefferson was taken to the Medical University of South Carolina, where he later died.
