Four students contract whooping cough at N. Charleston elementary school

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Charleston County School District officials say four students at a North Charleston elementary school contracted whooping cough earlier this month.

According to school officials, three students were confirmed to have the bacterial disease on Oct. 2, and one student was diagnosed on Oct. 4.

The students were excused for four days and treated.

Officials say there have been no new cases.
