Authorities planning increased traffic enforcement during Skinful event

JAMES ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - Officials with Charleston County Sheriff's Office say authorities will be conducting increased traffic and DUI enforcement on Folly Road and nearby roads for the Skinful Halloween event at the Brick House Kitchen on Saturday.

Authorities say deputies will be out from 8 p.m. until 4 a.m. A release stated the traffic enforcement is in addition to off-duty deputies working the parking lot and areas surrounding the event.

Major Jim Brady with the sheriff's office says last year's event resulted in 58 citations for traffic offenses, 5 DUI charges, a disorderly conduct arrest and five alcohol related charges.

"As in years past the Sheriff's Office is urging individuals planning to attend the event to consult Skinful's website and make use of transportation and parking opportunities available to reduce on pedestrian traffic on Folly Road before and after the event," a sheriff's office press release stated."Motorists are encouraged to use caution when traveling in the area and be alert for the presence of law enforcement officers, slowed traffic and pedestrian traffic."
