Savannah Highway open to traffic after power pole knocked down

WEST ASHLEY, SC (WCSC) - SCE&G officials say Savannah Highway is open to traffic after portions of it were closed down following a traffic accident that knocked a power pole down.

Charleston police had earlier shut down portions of the highway as crews repaired the pole in West Ashley.

According to police, the accident happened around 1:30 p.m. near Highway 17 and Wesley Drive when a car driven by a man struck a utility pole causing it to snap in half.

The driver was cited for the accident.
