MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) - Myrtle Beach is working with a national group to lure foreign visitors to the Grand Strand.
The Sun News of Myrtle Beach reports the local chamber of commerce is working with BrandUSA to attract international visitors. BrandUSA is a nonprofit, public-private partnership created by Congress in 2010 to promote the United States to world travelers.
Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Brad Dean says drawing foreign visitors will be a challenge because the area has to compete with New York, Miami and Chicago.
Dean says the effort will start with promotions in Canada. Next year, that will likely expand to Europe and China.
Dean says working with BrandUSA is cheaper than the chamber trying to do such promotions alone.
