SPARTANBURG COUNTY, SC (WYFF) -

An Upstate man is facing charges after deputies say he struck several people with a machete at a bonfire, according to a Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office incident report.

An officer said he responded to a disturbance involving a machete on Wynette Way on Saturday.

The officer said when he arrived he was told by the homeowner that a man who used to live at the home, later identified as Logan Joseph West, came to the home, pulled out a machete and started threatening everyone there.

According to the report, three people were hit with the machete but none suffered serious injuries.

Two people were hit in the hand and another man was hit in the shoulder, the report said.

The people attending the bonfire also told the officer that West drove up and down the street spinning his tires in the gravel and also smashed a car window.

The report said there was a ‘Private Property, No Trespassing" sign at the front of the property and the homeowner asked West not to come on the property.

West was arrested on Sunday and charged with three counts of assault and battery, malicious damage to property and trespassing.
