LADSON, SC (WCSC) - Opening day of the Coastal Carolina Fair experienced an unwelcomed surprise Thursday after a semi-truck took down some power lines in front of the fairground.
No worries, the gates at the fair still opened as scheduled.
According to the Charleston County Sheriff's Office, a semi-truck took out some power lines on Hwy 78 around 2:30 p.m., causing a power outage on the fairgrounds. It is not known what parts of the fairground were affected.
The accident took place before the fair's 3 p.m. scheduled opening.
Authorities are on the scene working to restore the power, and things appear to be running as normal at the fair.
