GOOSE CREEK, SC (WCSC) -

Investigators have arrested a 22-year-old man accused of bringing a knife to an elementary school in Goose Creek.

Investigators arrested Jonathan Erwin Dutcher of Summerville on Thursday and charged him with carrying a weapon on school property.

Dutcher's arrest stems from an Oct. 25 incident when police responded to Westview Elementary School on 100 Westview Blvd. in reference to a suspicious person with a knife.

The school secretary said a man had come by the school to see a teacher. After the secretary told the man that the teacher had retired three years ago, the man said,"Oh I thought she would be here forever," and began to walk away.

A witness reported to police that as she was passing the man outside of the school, she saw the man reach into a bag and pull out a large hunting knife which was still secured in its scabbard.

The witness arrived at the school and told the secretary who then contacted police.

Authorities say the man was seen getting onto a bicycle and leaving the area.
