GREENSBORO, AL (WBRC) -

A jury has convicted a Gordo man of manslaughter and abuse of his ex-wife's corpse.

David "Todd" Stephens was charged with capital murder in his ex-wife's death after her body was found near his parents' home in Pickens County in 2009.

Investigators say Stephens allegedly dismembered the body of his ex-wife Tonya Hyche Stephens, set her on fire, then buried her body near his parents' home.

Tonya Stephens' body was found a few days after she was reported missing from Moundville. Todd Stephens' father called police, saying his son confessed to the killing shortly after it happened.

The jury convicted Stephs of manslaughter and abuse of a corpse on Friday, Nov. 1, according to Hale County District Attorney Michael Jackson.
