Linda Page wins race for Mount Pleasant mayor

MT. PLEASANT, SC (WCSC) -

Charleston County Election Commission officials confirm that Linda Page has won the race for Mount Pleasant mayor.

In her victory speech Tuesday night, Page talked about uniting the town. On Monday morning, Page said it's her goal to bring north, south, old and new sections of Mount Pleasant together.

"I think what I envisioned is a small town feel that I grew up with," Page said."I've been here since 1959 and it's my hometown. I want that hometown quality and feel, so I don't want that divisiveness."

More than 6,200 voters supported Page. She will officially take office next Tuesday.

Page faced Councilman Kenneth Glasson, former councilman Joe Bustos, George Freeman and Carl Carroll Jr. Earlier this year, current

Mayor Billy Swails announced he would not seek a second term.

    Charleston police are asking for the public's help to find a missing teenager.  Keyonna Latriece Felder, 16, was last seen at 1385 Ashley River Road in Apartment C on Sept. 17 at 1 p.m. She was last seen by her mother on Sept. 11.

    The Army Corps of Engineers has given the go-ahead for the planned expansion of Joe Riley Waterfront Park. DHEC and the Office of Ocean and Coastal Resource Management had already issued the state permits in May.
