MT. PLEASANT, SC (WCSC) -

Charleston County Election Commission officials confirm that Linda Page has won the race for Mount Pleasant mayor.

In her victory speech Tuesday night, Page talked about uniting the town. On Monday morning, Page said it's her goal to bring north, south, old and new sections of Mount Pleasant together.

"I think what I envisioned is a small town feel that I grew up with," Page said."I've been here since 1959 and it's my hometown. I want that hometown quality and feel, so I don't want that divisiveness."

More than 6,200 voters supported Page. She will officially take office next Tuesday.

Page faced Councilman Kenneth Glasson, former councilman Joe Bustos, George Freeman and Carl Carroll Jr. Earlier this year, current

Mayor Billy Swails announced he would not seek a second term.
