After 2 seasons, Randy Hilyer stepped down as the head football coach at James Island on Tuesday night.
The Trojans finished 2013 with a 2-8 record putting Hilyer's 2 year record at the school at 7-14.
Hilyer sent an email to teachers at the school yesterday announcing that he was stepping down. A source close to the situation added Hilyer thought the program "wasn't where it needed to be."
He took over as the head coach after the 2011 season when John Patterson stepped down to become an Athletic Director in New Hampshire. Hilyer was promoted from defensive coordinator to head coach.
The school is expected to wait until after the playoffs to begin a search for their next head coach.
