CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The Charleston Police Department is investigating after a man was shot twice on Huger Street early Wednesday morning.
According to an incident report, approximately eight gunshots were heard in the area of Rutledge Avenue and Huger Street around 12:15 a.m.
Police say the victim was found walking with friends in the area of 385 Huger Street around 12:30 a.m. The victim had two gunshot wounds to his left underarm area.
The victim told police, "I got shot. That boy, he shoot me. They shoot me and ran."
Police say the victim claimed he did not have a weapon and did not return fire. He also said he did not know who the shooter was or why he was shot.
The report states the victim was taken to the hospital to receive treatment for his injuries.
A witness told police it sounded like someone ran through a back yard at 373 Huger Street after the shots were fired.
