Ellen DeGeneres rewards waitress for good deed - again

(RNN) - You never know when a quiet act of kindness will come back to you.

It's happened twice now for Ruby Tuesday waitress Sara Hoidahl, who picked up the tab for two furloughed soldiers who came into the New Hampshire restaurant where she works.

In early October, Hoidahl wrote on the pair's receipt, "Thanks to the government shutdown the people like you that protect this country are not getting paid. However I still am. Lunch is on me! Thanks for serving ladies! Have a good day!"

Talk show host Ellen DeGeneres heard about the good deed and invited Hoidahl on her show, surprising her with a check for $10,000.

On Friday, three weeks after her initial appearance, Hoidahl was being interviewed about her good deed gone viral with an Ellen producer disguised as a local reporter.

The talk show host interrupted the interview with a phone call, asking about her car.

"It's got four wheels and gets us from Point A to Point B," she told DeGeneres.

The waitress, who is a single mom, has been sharing a car with her mother. She says she also occasionally relies on friends to take her to work.

Another Ellen producer presented her with the keys to a brand new car of her own.

The kind deed brought an onslaught of tears to her eyes. Her reaction may bring tears to yours.
