Victim identified in fatal N. Charleston motorcycle accident

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The coroner's office has identified a motorcycle rider who died early Monday morning following an accident in North Charleston.
Officials say 23-year-old Robert Hardy III died from trauma sustained in Monday's accident. Hardy was on active duty with the Air Force.

According to a release, Hardy was involved in a single vehicle wreck shortly before midnight Monday in the area of Highway 52 and Highway 78 near Goose Creek.

Investigators say the Hardy was traveling at a high rate of speed on an exit ramp when his motorcycle collided with a guard rail.

Hardy was transported to MUSC in critical condition and later died.
