Charleston Police Department joins Consolidated Dispatch Center

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The Charleston Police Department is joining existing agencies Tuesday at the county's Consolidated Dispatch Center.

Officials say the sharing of information and resources between agencies will benefit the public.  Despite the change, Charleston Police Chief Greg Mullen says people won't notice any differences in quality of service or response times.

In an emergency, Charleston residents will still need to call 911 for crimes in progress. The number for non-emergency police will be 843-743-7200.
