Suspect in 2010 fatal wreck sentenced to 3 years in prison

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The driver of a car involved in a fatal accident back in 2010 has been sentenced to 3 years behind bars.

Stanley Scott Geer, who was originally charged with felony DUI, plead guilty to reckless homicide Tuesday and was sentenced to 3 years in prison with 5 years probation.

Authorities say Geer racked up a $121 bar tab at the Recovery Room in November 2010 before getting behind the wheel of his vehicle.

Police say Geer crashed into a person driving a moped on Glenn McConnell Parkway around 1:45 a.m. The victim was identified by the Charleston County Coroner's Office as 23-year-old Christopher McRae Torella of West Ashley.

Geer has been credited for 17 days served.
