GOOSE CREEK, SC (WCSC) - Amy Drive in Goose Creek have been reopened Friday morning after a medical emergency led to a standoff, authorities say.
Goose Creek Police say EMS was called out to Amy drive for a medical emergency just after 4 a.m. When EMS arrived on the scene, it was discovered the person who needed medical assistance had a gun and would not come out the house.
According to a release, the woman's adult daughter was called and told police several guns where inside the home.
Goose Creek Police and a SWAT Team were called out to the scene and Amy Drive was blocked off to traffic.
Authorities say the woman's physician was called to the scene and was able to convince her to come outside. She was then taken into protective custody.
Police say the STAW Team cleared the residence and took custody of several weapons for security.
