Report: Trio break into home, rob family & friends

BEAUFORT COUNTY, SC (WCSC) -

The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office is on the lookout for three men who broke into a home and robbed a couple and their friends.

Authorities say the incident happened at a home on Wellena Court in Burton around 5 p.m.

The homeowner said he was in the kitchen cooking while his wife and her two friends were playing cards when three suspects, one of whom was armed with a gun, suddenly entered the house.

An incident report states the suspects took the money being used in the card game and a purse belonging to one of the victims.

All three suspects then took off and were last seen running across Joe Frazier Road into the woods.

The suspects were described as black males between the ages of 25 and 30, wearing scarves over their faces. The sheriff's office says one of the suspects was wearing a white hooded sweatshirt, and the other two were wearing black hooded sweatshirts.

A K-9 tracking team responded to conduct a search, and some of the stolen money was located.

If you have any information you are asked to call Investigator Sgt. C. Wilson at 843-255-3409 or Crime Stoppers at 554-1111.
