Charleston Basket Brigade providing Thanksgiving meals to those in need

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The Charleston Basket Brigade is trying to feed 3,000 families this year. Hundreds of volunteers are packing boxes full of Thanksgiving meals for people who really do need it this season.

One thing that's in the boxes is a 14 pound turkey that will be the centerpiece of all the items in the box.

Other items include corn, green beans, yams and cranberry sauce.

"We will hopefully have hundreds of hundreds of volunteers that will show up and deliver these meals right to the door of families in need in the Charleston area," said Pam Hartley, co-founder of Charleston Basket Brigade. "We have 3,050 plus families today that are receiving meals and we know all of these families are truly in need and we are thrilled we're able to give them a Thanksgiving meal."

"We're honored and proud to be a part of the Charleston Basket Brigade this year," said Kim Taylor, a CBR volunteer and sponsor."Feeding over three thousand families, as an individual as a business, if you can financially, physically contribute it doesn't get much better than that. It's just the right thing to do."
