Police: Fugitive attempting to leave area captured at Charleston airport

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

Investigators say a 24-year-old fugitive who was attempting to leave the area was captured by SWAT at the Charleston International Airport Tuesday afternoon.

North Charleston police arrested Richard David Lindsey who was also wanted on a charge of possession of a firearm during a violent crime.

Travelers at the airport reported witnessing law enforcement taking Lindsey into custody a little before 4 p.m. Police officials say they received a tip that Lindsey was trying to leave the city.

Police say on Oct. 18, Lindsey walked into the K Mart pharmacy on Rivers Avenue, and handed the pharmacist a note that read he was sick and didn't want to kill the victim.

The pharmacist gave the suspect Oxycodone pills. Lindsey stands 6'0" and weighs abut 140 pounds

Police say Lindsey is a suspect in some other robberies in the Tri County area.
