Grandparents fight back against home intruders

OAK HILL, FL (WKMG/CNN) - Two grandparents took matters into their own hands when suspected thieves tried to break into their Florida home.

Deputies arrested the last of five suspects Wednesday morning.

Peggy and Ira Roberts were home when they saw the group on their property on Tuesday.

Peggy went outside to confront them and Ira got his gun.

"I said, 'who are you and what are you doing out here? What do you want," Peggy said.

"Legally, you can't shoot them when they're running away, so I pumped one into the ground, which was a good thing – it alerted all of my neighbors," Ira said.

A woman who lives nearby heard the shot and chased after the thieves, tackling one of them.

The suspect was held down until deputies arrived. Three other suspects were caught Tuesday.
