WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Two women from Wilmington were charged in Jacksonville this week for going on a $6,000 shopping spree without spending a dime, according to the City of Jacksonville Public Safety.

Officers with the Jacksonville Police Department charged Refeeka Brunson, 37, and Dominique Eason, 19, for stealing merchandise and trying to run away from authorities.

According to officials, police were called to respond to a larceny near Marshall's on Western Blvd. around 3 p.m. Wednesday.

Police spotted the pair leaving the Sam's parking lot and continued driving regardless of the officer's blue lights behind them.

Eventually, the driver pulled into a parking lot, shifted the car in reverse, rammed into a patrol car, and then tried to run away.

According to Jacksonville Public Safety, officers opened the trunk of the vehicle and found more than $6,000 worth of stolen merchandise.
