CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Let the shopping continue.
For small business owners, the day after Black Friday is the real start to their holiday season.
Known as Small Business Saturday, the shopping event calls on area shoppers to step out of the big box retailer, and into their local business.
"There are so many opportunities for people to shop online," said Christine DeCocker, owner of AccuPhotoLab, in West Ashley.
"Although its convenient for them, we're here to help them."
Don DeLuca, owner of Sweet Gourmet in Charleston, says offering unique product is key to competing with big box retailers.
"You're putting your heart and soul into something for yourself, or for family members or friends where the gift is more important than the dollars are."
Small Business Saturday was founded by American Express in 2010.
