CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - The Charleston County Sheriff's Office has arrested a 50-year-old man accused of shooting another man following an argument at a home in Charleston County.

Investigators have charged Corey Frederick Matthews of Ravenel with attempted murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime.

On Thursday at 12:06 a.m., deputies responded to a home on Erika Place in Hollywood for a report of a shooting.

The 50-year-old victim said Matthews shot him over a verbal dispute they had earlier in the day about a female friend.

The victim told deputies when he and Matthews met up again that evening, they had another argument. An incident report states Matthews then took out a shotgun and shot the victim.

The victim was transported to the hospital for a gunshot wound to his upper chest and shoulder area. According to the sheriff's office, the victim and suspect have known each other for several years.
