ORO VALLEY, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

They may have only played two games, but the Cienega Bobcats girls basketball team looks like a contender in 2013-14.

Junior forward Treyanna Clay scored 17 of her game-high 20 points in the first half as the Bobcats (2-0) ran away from Canyon del Oro 54-29.

The Dorados came into the game winners of seven of their first eight games but were never in this contest as Cienega sprinted to a 9-0 lead using a transition game that head coach Paul Reed hopes will be the staple of his team this year.

Senior Gabby Banales hit three three-pointers in the first half and finished with 15 points.

Sammy Nettling led CDO (7-2) with 10.

The Bobcats figure to get their first big test next Friday night (13th) when they travel to face Ironwood Ridge. The Nighthawks are 4-1 this season. Their lone loss came to Pusch Ridge Christian Academy.

The Lions remained undefeated Thursday night with a 47-27 win over visiting Pueblo.
