Charleston Coast Guard rescued man and dog from disabled boat

GEORGETOWN COUTY, SC (WCSC) - A man and his dog were rescued after his vessel ran aground in Georgetown Thursday evening, according the United States Coast Guard.

Coast Guard Sector Charleston responded to the call around 4:18 p.m. from the owner of the 25-foot sailing boat Margin. Officials say the owner ran aground and was disable near the South Santee River.

Coast Guard crews launched a helicopter to the area and were able to rescue both the dog and the man into the rescue basket.

According to officials, neither the owner nor his dog were injured.
